Meet The Spartans: STOMP THE YARD (Full) Three Amigos One of the most memorable funny movies ever Sooner or later Funny TV and Movie Scenes. Watching Meet the Spartans is like being locked in the bathroom after clogging the toilet. These films are funny because they poke fun at other films, poking fun at the Matrix-like slow motion effects used during its fight scenes. will be just as, if not more, painful than you could have ever imagined. Meet the Spartans perhaps promised a few laughs with trailers, that was in fact a hoax: it is the stupidest movie I have ever seen, but funny, mildly lol.
It left me sitting there trying to figure out towards the end if what they were saying was actually meant to be funny. About jokes too many. Worst film i have ever seen. Jun 27, As much as I understand why people love artsy movies like Schindler's List, which is in fact a good movie, what I do enjoy the most is a good comedy. It's no wonder I liked this movie, really, as I've seen every Family Guy As much as I understand why people love artsy movies like Schindler's List, which is in fact a good movie, what I do enjoy the most is a good comedy.
It seems some people are under the impression that pop-culture references are not jokes. But the point of a joke is to make you laugh, and that's also the point of pop-culture references. With that out of the way, on to the actual review. Meet the Spartans is a sea of pop-culture references, that doesn't border on being overkill, it throws itself headlong into overkill. To truly enjoy this movie, you may need a strong knowledge of American culture, so if you live in the USA, you are all set.
But if you live in Europe, you would benefit from studying up on general USA life. If you enjoy these series, or Scary Movie, you are much more likely to enjoy this movie. It's overflowing with hilarious pop-culture references and, while short on original jokes, it works fine anyway. So, go see it, unless you're hooked on The Godfather.
And to all the people who think the ones who like this movie are idiots, I am 14 years old, and English is not my native language.

Yet, here I am, writing this elaborate review, proving that you don't need to be stupid to see this movie.
In fact, it's the complete opposite. You need to be intelligent to enjoy this movie. Perhaps you will see the movie, perhaps not. If not, you are definately missing out on something great. And with that, I leave you all to your thoughts. Jan 5, Terrible.
It's not funny, rude and disgusting. Watch "", the original, and enjoy it. I just want to respond to Kenny M who critiqued Jim C. They became known for turning out simple, cheap, and quickly produced parody films during the mid-late s, releasing Epic Movie, Meet the Spartans, and Disaster Movie back to back over andthe latter two films coming out within mere months of each other. Their movies were routinely Not Screened for Critics.
The few critics that did see them had nothing but scorn for them. After Disaster Movie flopped even by their standards largely due to popping up in August, which has become a much more crowded Dump Month in recent yearsthey took a short break before jumping on board the Twilight train with Vampires Suck.

While the latter was still not well received, it did slightly better critically than their previous couple of films and returned them to box office glory.
While their output has slowed since their heyday, they've hardly stopped. Due to the nature of their films largely being simplistic parodies of whatever is popular at the time, a number of other parody films in the same style have been wrongly attributed to them. This duo tends to attract writing just as negative as their own, so the page is locked. Their work provides examples of: Some of the films have issues with the titles not really representing the content being parodied.
As the making-of materials on Disaster Movie revealed, this is because the films change rather rapidly in production and the title is simply meant to cover what the filmmakers expect to be the most marketable element.
In Disaster Movie, Juney chugs vodka, breakdances on her belly, and she and her unborn child get ripped apart by rabid wildlife from the popular disaster film Alvin and the Chipmunks. In Disaster Movie, there was a big bottle of Ambien and a wine glass, which could be a reference to Heath Ledger's death.
Rumors also circulated that they wanted to be more direct based on casting the role of the Joker, but the deleted scene in question was actually just the character making out with some guy in a reference to Brokeback Mountain. A recurring theme in Meet the Spartans is violence against children.
Not over-the-top ridiculous violence or violence for the sake of social commentary People are expected to laugh at kids having chairs broken over their backs? Carmen Electra appears in all of these movies and plays a major role in Meet The Spartans making her, for want of a better term, the series mascot. Most of the X Meets Y formulas for the Seltzer and Friedberg are bizarre beyond belief, with the very few threads connecting them being that they were in the public's zeitgeist by the time the film was created.
As The Nostalgia Critic eloquently asked: Disaster Movie was their only movie to bomb both critically and financially, and since then, their output has been far more sporadic. Happens quite a bit in these movies, although the male characters absolutely Would Hit a Girl.

The ending of Epic Movie. When it looks like Peter is going to lose, he just randomly finds the magic remote from Click in the grass, which, he of course helpfully tells the audienceis the remote from Click. Lisa in Disaster Movie, though the characters' grief doesn't last for very long.
Don't Explain the Joke: For starters, this Leonidas only has 13 warriors rather than Reality shows and game shows are also parodied. Seeing as how Spartans is their seventh produced spoof, one wonders what stone is left to be turned by Friedberg and Seltzer.
Spartans is basically one extended gay joke, territory that itself inarguably set itself up for. From their abs to their costumes or lack thereof and even their battle formations, Spartans skewers the ancient Spartans and brands Leonidas as a "war-mongering latent homosexual" an actual lyric in a song used in the film.
But this " is gay" idea was played out by the time had left theaters; the "It's Raining Men" music video parody of that spread online last year did a far better and shorter job of pointing out the obvious than Spartans ever does. It just isn't funny.
