designed for kitesport enthusiasts
As a kiter, I live for sessions. The sport has such a therapeutic effect, I seek any chance to fly. This addiction has turned me into a wind chaser. Often frantically clicking amongst various weather sites and driving to and fro fly zones in hopes that maybe I have the right kite for whatever Mother Nature blows our way. In efforts to control my obsession, I created the aircast.

A tool designed for power kiters, the aircast can help you figure out if it's worth gathering the gear, how much kite you'll need and which spots to hit. We've worked hard to research and bring you the latest wind readings and weather reports across the Lowcountry.

Aircast readings are only indicators! They are meant to help guide. With a lack of accurate 'one source' surf zone reports/forecasts, the aircast is compiled from both public and private sources that are deemed reliable & accurate.

Please understand each source has specific anomalies, which must be considered in understanding what the readings are really telling you. On this page you’ll find descriptions and explanations affecting local conditions.

We’re doing our best to bring you more detail every day. If you have any suggestions for including other wind/weather sources or thoughts on what specific readings are really saying, please let us know! We'll be happy to include them.
